Job Description
We are partnered with an innovative cleantech company at the forefront of hydrogen generation and carbon removal. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and iterate on advanced reactor systems and critical mechanical assemblies that power their transformative technology. This role spans concept development, high-performance design, prototyping, and buildout within a highly collaborative engineering environment.

- Own the mechanical design of reactor components, including vessels, flanges, welded structures, frames, and articulated mechanisms.
- Lead CAD modeling, detailed drawing creation, and documentation for complex mechanical assemblies.
- Perform stress and thermal analysis using hand calculations and FEA (ANSYS Workbench preferred).
- Contribute to structural and sealing design for high-temperature environments.
- Develop and iterate designs based on test stand performance and experimental data.
- Specify tolerances and GD&T;execute tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with thermal, combustion, transfer, and controls engineers.
- Support prototype fabrication, test setup, and early-stage design validation.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate design reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering within industrial or high-performance environments.
- Hands-on experience designing welded structures, skids, and articulated mechanisms.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and experience creating production-ready drawings.
- Strong experience with thermal-mechanical FEA (thermal, structural).
- Strong communicator and collaborator on multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with high-temperature design (400-1200 C) and materials selection for such environments
- Structural FEA background with aerospace, turbine, or similar experience
- Experience designing sealing systems, flanges, pressure vessels
- Background in hydrogen systems, containerized energy systems, or industrial equipment in harsh environments
