Job Description

We are a sustainable heat and power technology company backed by Bill Gates. Our company helps people save money, reduce carbon emissions, and increase resiliency during power outages. $70MM venture capital is committed to our vision.

We value our ability to move fast to outpace larger companies and achieve what they cannot.

Our technology has been designed to using millions of miles of gas pipelines to delivery clean hydrogen at the point of use.

We are looking to add a Multiphase Reactor Design Engineer (Chemical Engineer, Process Development Engineer) to optimize the modeling as we design our Pilot Plants.

In this role, you will be working with a team of Chemical Process Engineers, Analytical Material Chemists, Plant Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to develop dynamic multiphase flow models for solid carbon/gas pyrolysis product gas flows in support of chemical reactor design, optimization & technology scale-up. This role will support the technology development team by using effective parametric modeling tools to provide direction for internal design-build-test activities to accelerate the optimization & scale-up of hydrogen generation technology and prioritize experimental efforts within the organization.

You will also advise plant design engineers on design and process scope, including for commercially viable/available equipment choices. The role will initially focus on the optimization of carbon handling sub-systems in a pilot plant, but will also be involved in commercial scale design of a novel pyrolysis reactor.

3 Awesome reasons to work here:
  • Top Funding from prominent investors and partners
  • Join a team with the financial, intellectual, and technical resources to decarbonize the planet
  • Top benefits and options as we move to commercialization
The ideal candidate will have industrial experience using operational data from pilot plants to incorporate feedback and guide design parameters. The ability to take operational information and use it to further enhance modeling is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement multiphase flow models for various industrial processes
Design and optimize multiphase reactors for maximum efficiency and performance
Utilize operational data from pilot plants to improve modeling accuracy and guide design parameters
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of multiphase flow models into industrial processes
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advances in multiphase flow modeling and reactor design
Qualifications:
Master’ s Degree in Chemistry preferred.  Bachelor' s or Master' s degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering)
5+ years of experience in multiphase flow modeling and multiphase reactor design.  Experience with multiphase flow modeling in a thermal reactor system, preferably gas/solid deposition reaction systems (Ansys/Fluent, Mfix), and correlating those models with performance and design of a commercial or industrial chemical reactor
Strong background in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
Strong fundamental knowledge of ADE modeling principles for defining first- and second-order gas-to-solid phase conversion reactions within a thermal reactor system
Proficiency with modeling software such as Aspen, ANSYS, or COMSOL
Experience working with operational data from pilot plants
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
We’ d be really excited if you have:
  • PhD in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with specialization in thermal deposition reactor design / multiphase flow modeling
  • Process drawing, design & simulation skills (AutoCAD, HYSYS, ProMax, ASPENPLUS or similar)
  • Experience designing systems within the oil & gas industry, specifically in natural gas or petroleum cracking process design and/or optimization or chemical vapor deposition systems.
  • Deep understanding of solids deposition, nucleation, growth reactions, formation mechanisms and reactor regeneration techniques / reverse sublimation reaction modeling.
  • Familiarity with statistical experiment design and process control (e.G. DoE, Taguchi methods, etc.).
What' s in it for you:
In addition to a highly competitive salary ($110K - $160K) and a generous benefits package including 100% funded insurance, you will also be granted early-stage internal equity. Your hard work will also qualify you for a Flexible working schedule and Flexible time-off.

Key deadlines and milestones await your contributions. So, if you are a Multiphase Flow Modeling Engineer, Multiphase Reactor Design Engineer, Process Development Engineer, Chemical Engineer, or Industrial Engineer with experience in multiphase flow modeling, please apply today.
